Hi, I’m Jelani, but you can call me J. I am a full-time real estate investor and entrepreneur. Before my road to entrepreneurship, I achieved my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT). I then landed a job in software engineering that I wasn’t completely satisfied with. Like many others, I desired a more autonomous career that would also grant me more lucrative financial opportunities. I knew the next step to gaining the financial freedom that I craved was to develop a solid plan. I became serious about my real estate investing journey in 2019 and officially left my job in the spring of 2020. By the fall of 2021, I amassed a rental portfolio that allowed me to cash flow up to 3x’s the salary of my previous corporate job. Moreover, through appreciation, I managed to increase my net worth to over 3 million dollars. The road to gaining financial freedom and independence wasn’t easy, but with dedication and consistency, I eventually reached my goal.

As a real estate investor, I make my living by purchasing residential and commercial investment properties. I then use these assets to generate long term revenue in the form of cash flow and appreciation. Cash flow is typically generated from rent via tenants, while appreciation is generated from the value of these assets increasing.

Currently, I own 380 units across 6 different states. These rental units consist of single-family homes, small multi-family homes (1-10 units), and large multi-family homes (100+ Units). I also have successfully completed various minor to extensive renovation projects, including ground up new construction. As of recently, I have expanded my reach to short-term rentals including Airbnb.

Today, with Real Recognize Real Estate, I aim to share my knowledge of the real estate market to help others improve their everyday lives and give them the opportunity for long-term success. With the experience and blueprint that will allow almost anyone to succeed quickly, I am eager to share all that I have learned along my journey to ensure the future success of others.

I believe Real Estate is a team sport and being a part of a successful team begins with keeping it real – hence why I choose the name Real Recognize Real Estate. When you keep it real with yourself, it will be easier for you to recognize the real from the fake in other people. Your network is your net worth. That’s why it’s important to cultivate a team of individuals that you can trust to always be real. When you identify people that bring that realness to the table, you should next establish a mutual respect and understanding of each person’s role. Keep in mind that everyone has something valuable to add. So, when you do identify what value each team member has, you can then assemble your team in a way that is beneficial to accomplishing team goals. If you want to maintain success, always keep it real with yourself about where you are now and how you add value to others. It’s also important to keep it real about areas where you need help. Identifying your strengths and weaknesses will allow you to build a solid team around you that will fast track and fuel your success in Real Estate and in life in general.
